ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS | Subculture Eyeshadow Palette

HAPPY 2018, beauty lovers! Starting out the new year with a review on a new eyeshadow palette I recently picked up, Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette.

Cube / Dawn / Destiny / Adorn / All Star / Mercury / Axis

Roxy / Electric / Fudge / New Wave / Untamed / Edge / Rowdy

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette ($42.00 for 0.28 oz) is housed in a plastic compact case that's wrapped with a layer of velvet fabric. Inside the case, you'll find a full-length mirror on one side and 14 grungy eyeshadow shades as well as a dual-sided brush on the other. Out of the 14 shades featured in the palette, 11 have a matte finish (Dawn, Destiny, All Star, Mercury, Axis, Roxy, Fudge, New Wave, Untamed, Edge, and Rowdy) while the rest have a metallic finish (Cube, Adorn, and Electric).

First thing I want to talk about is the formula. Patience and gentleness is going to be the key when using this palette. Although the shades in this palette have an overall very soft and easy-to-blend formula, they do tend to be more on the powdery side so if you are heavy-handed, like me, you will experience a lot of fallouts. As far the pigmentation goes, every shade featured in this palette is highly pigmented, so getting a nice color payoff is not going to be an issue.

I usually prefer to stay away from palettes with a lot of dark eyeshadow shades but figured I'd give this one a try, and I am glad I did. I am a big fan of matte shades so I absolutely love the fact that this palette has plenty of them. I also love the fact that Subculture also has a lot of interesting shades that can be used to create some really amazing daytime looks, nighttime looks and everything in between! Although this palette is a bit high maintenance and requires a lot of patience it is still worth it!
